Outpatient Services

Many services are offered on an outpatient basis at The Journey's main office, centrally located between Provo and Orem, serving Utah County and the vicinity. The Journey employs licensed psychologists, marriage and family therapists, a child psychologist, a substance abuse counselor, and a psychiatrist. Treatment programs and services offered are as follows:

An intensive outpatient substance abuse treatment program engages adolescent group treatment four evenings a week. Included in this treatment are drug therapy groups, process groups, therapy groups, relapse prevention groups, 12 step programs, and family therapy group. Youth in this program are assigned a tracker, a person who works with the youth outside of the program to monitor not only abstinence, but also progress at home, in school, and in outside activities. Additionally, the youth in this program are assigned a therapist for individual and family therapy.

Various individual and family therapy services are available. Trained therapists specialize in adolescent services. Additionally, marriage and family therapists are available for family counseling with the child or in a couple setting. One therapist has extensive training in child and play therapy.

The Journey psychologists are well known for their psychological evaluation services. Two of these psychologists have been providing psychological evaluations to the State of Utah Juvenile Justice Services for over eighteen years. Two other psychologists have provided evaluations for local private residential treatment centers and in private practice. One psychologist specializes in psycho-sexual evaluations, while another has training in neurological assessment. Naturally, our clinicians also provide drug and alcohol assessments.

The Journey also provides psychiatric services. Full psychiatric evaluations are available, as is medication management. Our psychiatrist has the philosophy of limited medication usage until it is determined that the specific medication is the most beneficial to the client. Additionally, our psychiatrist recognizes drug-seeking behavior, and is cautious in his prescriptions.

All of our treatment team professionals are experienced and come with high recommendations from the populations served. Excellence is expected in treatment at The Journey.
